Bali Pratipada is also known as Bali Puja and it is performed on the first day of Kartik Pratipada which is believed to fall on the next day of Diwali Puja.
Govardhan Puja coincides with the Bali Puja. Govardhan Puja is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Govardhan hills. Bali Puja is celebrated and performed to seek blessings of the demon king Bali.
As the boon is bestowed by Lord Vishnu, the demon king Bali is worshipped in India.
As per the legends associated with Vamana Avatar of Lord Vishnu, it is said that demon Bali was pushed to Nadir (Patala) by Lord Vishnu.

As King Bali was a generous man, he was permitted to visit Bhulok (the Earth) for three days by Lord Vishnu. It is known that during his visit to the Earth, king Bali blessed all his devotees and fulfilled their wishes.
As per scriptures and ritual textbooks, the image of king Bali should be drawn at the center of your home along with his dear wife, Vindhya Vali.
It should be remembered that the image of King Bali is adorned with five different colors. Now, the five colored image is worshipped during throughout the Bali Puja.
In the Southern India, King Bali is worshipped during Onam and also the concept of Onam is based and same as that of Bali Puja celebrated in the Northern India.
