Gruha Pravesam (గృహప్రవేశం ముహూర్తం), also known as House warming ceremony is a Hindu ritual held after taking possession of a house or premises. This auspicious and significant ceremony is performed by choosing Shubh Gruhapravesam muhurtham or auspicious date and time of house ceremony.
In Hinduism, Grahapravesam is considered the second most important ceremony after marriage ceremony (Kalyanam or Vivaha) (తెలుగు వివాహ వేడుక). It is believed that one should not occupy or move into a house before performing Gruha Pravesam Puja.
As per Vastu Shastra, all residence spaces possess some hidden entities that need to pacify. Thus, Gruhapravesh Homam and Vastu Shanti Puja are performed in the presence of Priests to purify the space from negativity and evil energies.
