CRICKET WORLD CUP GROUP STAGE
The 46-day championship for the battle of the Cricket World cup will witness each team playing the other in a single-league format and the top four teams after 45 matches will progress to the semi-finals.
The championship begins with the group stage in a round robin fashion, where all the teams play against each other in a single group. Each team is going to play a total of nine matches, making it a total of 45 matches. The top four teams from this stage will make it to the knockout stage and finally the top 2 teams will proceed for finals.
This one-day championship, set to take place between 30 may 2019 to 14 July 2019 will observe a total of 48 matches. The first match is set to take place at the Oval, London between England and South Africa.
ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP MOST AWAITED MATCHES
England is all set to declare the tournament open on 30 May, at The Oval, where they will compete against South Africa. The current champions will start defending their title on 1 June and will compete against Afghanistan, which is the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier champions, at Bristol in a day/night match.
Team India, who won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 in England and Wales, the 1983 and 2011 world champions are set to play their first match on 5 June giving competition to South Africa at the Hampshire Bowl in Southampton. 2011 world champion will compete with the current world champion Australia on 9 June at The Oval, London.
16 June will witness the most awaited match between the most famous rivals, India and Pakistan at Old Trafford in Manchester.
The top four teams in the group stage will make it to the knockout stage and the semi finals will be held on 9 July and 11 July at Old Trafford in Manchester and Edgbaston in Birmingham. The final Match between the top two teams will be played on 14 July at Lord’s.
