Navdurga: 9 Roop of Maa Durga

In all nine forms of Maa Durga, nine qualities are embodied. This creation is sustained and maintained by Shakti, which symbolizes energy, and Devi Shakti, the primordial source of powers that are unseen. Navratri is a celebration and honor of the nine aspects of Mother Divine, also known as Nav Durga.

Maa Shailputri

Devi Shailputri- Goddess Parvati was born as the daughter and heir of Lord Himalaya after her self-atonement as Goddess Bhramacharini. Shail in Sanskrit means mountain. This is why Goddess Parvati was known as Shailputri, or the mountain's daughter.

Maa Bhrahmacharini

Devi Bhrahmacharini After taking the form of Kushmanda, Goddess Parvati was born at the home of Daksha Prajapati. This form of Goddess Parvati was recognized as Sati. Thus, this unmarried form of her is worshipped as Goddess Bhramacharini.

Maa Kushmanda

Devi Kushmanda- Goddess Parvati took the form Siddhidatri and began living in the center of the Sun so that he can emancipate energy to the universe. Kushmanda is the name given to Goddess since then. Kushmanda is the Goddess with the ability to live within the Sun's rays. Her body glows and radiates as luminous as that of the Sun.

Maa Chandraghanta

Devi Chandraghanta Goddess Chandraghanta is a married version of Goddess Parvati. Goddess Chandraghanta was born to Goddess Mahagauri after she married Lord Shiva.

Maa Skandamata

Devi Skandamata- Mata Parvati, also known as Lord Kartikeya, was named Goddess Skandamata when she became the mother to Lord Skanda.

Katyayani Mata

Devi Katyayani Goddess Parvati assumed the form of Goddess Katyayani to destroy Mahishasura. This was Goddess Parvati's most violent form. This form of Goddess Parvati is also called Warrior Goddess.

Maa Kalaratri

Devi Kalaratri The Goddess Kalaratri was born when Goddess Parvati took off her outer golden skin in order to defeat the demons named Shumbha and Nishumbha. The powerful and most ferocious form of Goddess Parvati is Kalaratri.

Mata Mahaguri

Devi Mahaguri – According to Hindu mythologies the sixteen-year-old Goddess Shailputri was extraordinarily beautiful and blessed with fair skin. Her fair skin earned her the title Goddess Mahagauri.

Siddhidatri Devi

Devi Siddhidatri - Lord Rudra worshipped Adi-Parashakti at the beginning of the creation of the universe. Adi-Parashakti, the absolute Goddess of power and wisdom, emerged from the left half of Lord Shiva in the form of Siddidatri. It is believed that Goddess Adi-Parashakti had no identity of her own.
